XML-RPC is a standard for performing remote procedure calls by utilizing an XML description. It is similar in nature to SOAP, but has focused on the RPC side rather than document based invocations.

XML-RPC did not receive broad acceptance. Rather, SOAP has moved forward as the more popular language independent RPC mechanism for the Internet.
