Types are a way of describing data types, or data structures in a WSDL document. Most WSDL documents now use XML Schemas to describe the data structure.

Types allow a designer to create a set of reusable data types. WSDL intentionally separates the concept of type and message. This allows one to define types as basic building blocks for data structures and to use 'messages' as the final deliverable message.
